A simple monument of field stone marks the gratitude of Mecosta residents for their friends in uniform. Many Civil War veterans are buried in this small graveyard. They document the history of Mecosta, as veterans from Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and other points east came to settle in Michigan in the two decades after the Civil War.
