"In Memory Of All Those Who Gave Their Lives In Defense of Our Country"
This fallen veterans memorial was dedicated by the citizens of DeWitt in 1988 and a small grove planted around it. One can envision that a generation or two from now this will be a very quiet and special area.
The original George W Anderson GAR Post 58 flagpole has been replaced with a new pole and a suitable marker identifies it. The GAR area internments are numerous and easily identifiable with newly cast GAR markers. The GAR area is located about two sections north of the All Veterans Memorial.
The cemetery is located at the north edge of the business district, on Bridge Street.
The GAR flagpole and burial area is deceiving... dozens of Grand Army of The Republic veterans are buried here, some are
quite distant from the flagpole.
