Small burial area in village cemetery
Ithaca Village Cemetery
Ithaca, Gratiot County
"To those who gave full measure of devotion to their country"
"And glory guards with solemn round,
the bivouac of the dead
On fames eternal camping ground,
their silent tents are spread"
Erected in 1910, this memorial offers a small sentiment appropriate to those that died in battle and for those that served to return home and build a thriving community from an area once known as 'Starving Gratiot.' Just seven years after this monument was placed another generation of boys lined up and marched away from the farms and fields of this pioneer community.
