The Korea Era monument sits on the quiet side street side of the courthouse Blue Star Mothers Memorial
Sault Ste Marie, Chippewa County
"Erected by The Blue Star Mothers of America, Hiawatha Chapter 148"
"Dedicated to those who gave their lives in World War II in the cause of all freedoms"
"In honor and remberance of those who served in the armed forces of the United States"
A pair of marble tableaus showcase the efforts of the Blue Star Mothers in Chippewa County. The World War I markers need a little work; but one must realize that war was nearly 100 years ago and markers of this type have usually been in place for several decades. It's difficult to keep them looking new.
The publisher especially wishes to dedicate this page to the serviceman listed third from last on the World War II casualty list, Kenneth Wonnacott. "He was neither the first to serve, nor the last to die, but as cousins we still must ponder, 'Why?'"
