The Greenville Veterans Memorial Park was dedicated in 1956 and reflects service actions up through Desert Storm, with the exception of WW I. The omission of the First World War is puzzling, but the answer may lie in the fact that a cannon from that era is located at Pine Forest Cemetery and may have been to fragile to relocate. he centerpiece, with flag pole, in inscribed on southern and northern faces and surrounded by individual plaques.
The original GAR Post 83 memorial was erected in the Pine Forest Cemetary. Desert Storm, Korea, and VietNam all had a large impact upon the men and women of this area. Most recently the community has sent a large contingent of National Guard members to the Middle East conflicts.
