Knox County Veterans Memorials
Village Square, US-42 at OH-95
Mt Vernon, Knox County

"Knox County Pays Tribute
Dedicated to all veterans
They brought honor to our country and promise to our dreams"

"In memorium of those lost in Korea who will never be returned"

"In grateful appreciation of the Patriotism and self sacrifice of the lamented sons and soldiers of Knox Co., who for their C and for freedom, laid down their lives in the War of The Great Rebellion.

This Monument is erected.
They laid down their lives that the life of the Nation might be preserved and shared in the glory of securing to every dweller in the land, a heritage of human freedom; and their blood helped to cement that Union, which has made this great people now and forever one."

"Erected by the Mt Vernon Ladies Monument Association
July 4 A.D. 1877"

"In honor of the Victories and Triumph of the National arms in the War of The Great Rebellion
1861-1865
and in memory of the noble sons of Knox County, Ohio, who fought and fell in that conflict."

"Our Country!
By that dread name we wave the sword on high,
And swear for her to live - For her to die
- Gambrell"

This memorial stands in front of a busy courthouse. The memorial brick walkway is a recent addition and seems to have a good amount of participation in the effort to honor the local veterans.
