Hand Coded - Content Verified

The database that drives this search engine is created specifically to assist the touring motorcyclist. Each site referenced is verified to ensure the information contained is pertinent to some segment of the motorcycle community. You won't find porn indexed on this search engine. Nor will you find a million result pages for every search keyword. It's a relatively small database, but growing each day. It is purposely narrow in scope and in a way that we hope will help the average motorcycle rider plan an enjoyable trip from here to there, and back again. Use it to find state parks, museums, entertainment venues, lodging, camping, restaurants, motorcycle dealers and repair shops, and aftermarket vendors.

Oriented To The Road & Service Provided

Most large search engine databases rely upon the submitter to properly compile the 'keyword' list. Most submitters are notoriously inept at understanding how to use the strength of the search engine to get their pages found. The Roads And Riders database is primarily oriented geographically. I assume that you want to find something along a particular route, and probably in a narrow area, i.e. US-64 in Tennessee because you want to take a weekend trip that would include a night at a campground. No particular campground, but one that at least has shower facilties.

In this example, place the following in the search engine window; US64 + TN + Camping + showers - the result list will probably be small, but it will be very accurate. Try it. If you have the urge to wander along US-64 and take photographs of waterfalls then alter your search to this; US64 + waterfall - the result gives you every indexed location along the length of US-64 that is known to have an accessible waterfall. Nifty, eh?

Are you a Civil War buff? This search would get you all of the known Civil War battlefields and museums along US-50; US50 + "Civil War" - enclosing the two word phrase Civil War in quotes ensures you don't get listings that include the civil service bureau in Kansas City or the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. You get the drift, I'm sure . . . Try this for pursuits like Rural America, Pioneer America, American Revolution, and so on.

Assume your Honda has broken down on US-17, somewhere in Virginia, and you need help from a reputable repair shop. Try this "Rider Recommended" + US17 + Honda + VA - Isn't THAT special? Remember to use the enclosed phrase "RIDER RECOMMENDED" and you will find a shop that is known to have a GOOD reputation for treating customers fairly and without aggravating delays.

It's Incomplete!?

Yes, this is currently a small database and shouldn't be looked at as the best reference available. But the point is, it DOES WHAT IS INTENDED and the information provided may be relied upon as accurate. More specifically, it provides you a good way to plan a great trip. YOUR input is requested. If you want to recommend a dealer or repair shop that has treated you in a manner that you feel earns the respect of the riding community, then by all means, send that dealers information to us here. If you found the greatest, most biker friendly place in the nation that sells hamburgers, rents rooms, or provides that special experience that others would enjoy - send it in here.

Advertiser Supported

Everybodys' got to make a living somehow and there is no free lunch. Google, Yahoo, Lycos, Alta Vista, all of the search services plug advertisers into the results in order to pay for the effort and bandwidth it takes to provide the search database. Roads And Riders is no different. I hope that you will patronize the firms that purchase block and banner ads on this site. I also hope that potential advertisers will quickly see that this is a very worthwhile place to advertise and that it is designed in every way to keep their name/logo in front of you the riding audience.
